Mike Bamiloye, an actor and producer who has achieved widespread acclaim in Nigeria for his work on gospel films, has revealed that his long-married wife, Gloria, still addresses him as “Bro Mike” despite the fact that their union has endured for 35 years.
Both Mike and Gloria Bamiloye are well regarded within Nigeria’s and Africa’s Gospel film communities.
On his official Facebook page, Mike Bamiloye stated, “That is what everyone in the Christian fellowship called me.” Even after we were married, she still referred to me as “Bro Mike.” Then we had our first son, and we couldn’t believe it when our 1-year-old called me “AA-AA-YITE.” Both of us made an effort to start calling her “SWEETIE,” “HONEY,” “BABY,” and “SWEET-HEART,” MD.” It just didn’t pan out! My wife wanted to show my mother (Big Sister), who had been resisting this, that we had made an effort to adapt one day. I was up in my room when she yelled “HONEY!” “SWEETIE!! SWEET-HEART!!” in front of my mom. She repeatedly called, and I didn’t answer because I didn’t realise it was me.
He said, “I was hearing her voice but it never registered.” Finally, she yelled, “BRO MIKE!” And I shouted back an answer. Mom giggled at that, too. Finally, the end came. And now, after 35 years of marriage and seeing all of our children marry and start families of their own, she still calls me “BRO MIKE!” AND I STILL ANSWER QUESTIONS.The day before our 40th wedding anniversary, though, I want to end this curse once and for all. I’ll end the curse before my grandchildren start calling me “BRAAA-HIGHTEE!”, I swear to you all.
