Manchester United’s openiing offer for Rasmus Hojlund has been rejected by Atalanta, while Juventus on the other hand are looking to swoop in and secure the striker’s signature.
Manager Erik ten Hag is eager to bolster his squad with a new striker this summer, following the arrival of Mason Mount. However, the Manchester based outfit faces competition in their pursuit of Danish talent Hojlund, as their first bid has been turned down by the Italian club.
Hojlund has emerged as a more affordable option compared to Harry Kane, as Tottenham’s £100 million price tag for the England captain has deterred United. Testing the waters, the Red Devils made an initial offer of £30 million, which Atalanta has rejected, according to Corriere dello Sport.
The Italian outfit are holding out for a higher fee, aiming to receive at least £34-38 million for the promising striker. This valuation should be within United’s financial means.
The 20-year-old had an impressive debut season in Italy, scoring nine goals in 20 starts since joining from Sturm Graz in Austria last summer. Additionally, he has netted six goals in four Euro 2024 qualifiers for Denmark, making him the leading scorer.
The Old Lady are also interested in acquiring Hojlund as a potential replacement for Dusan Vlahovic, who has been credited with a move away from the Allianz Stadium. United has also been linked with an interest in Vlahovic, along with Kane and Hojlund.
